How can I do this?
You can choose a graphics renderer, view the dedicated GPU, and much more using the "Graphics" settings menu on BlueStacks 5 by following the steps given below.
1. Open the "Settings" menu by clicking on the gear icon on the Side toolbar.
2. On the Settings page, click on the "Graphics" tab.
On the "Graphics" settings page, you will see the following options:
Graphics renderer: Here, you can select between
- Vulkan & OpenGL (Recommended)
- OpenGL Only
We recommend using Vulkan & OpenGL together, as this combination offers broader app compatibility while leveraging the strengths of both. Vulkan utilizes the latest technology to render real-time 3D graphics, while OpenGL serves as a reliable graphics API for a wide range of applications. NOTE: Vulkan is available only on BlueStacks 5 Android Pie, Android 11 and Android 13.
If you're on BlueStacks 5 Nougat 32-bit/64-bit, you will get the following options:
• OpenGL
• DirectX
Interface renderer: It helps define the user interface and design of BlueStacks 5. You can try switching the interface renderer if you come across graphical and FPS-related issues. To learn more, click here.
ASTC textures: Enabling ASTC texture enhances the visual quality of your game. Click here to learn more about how ASTC textures works.
GPU in use: This section displays the current GPU being used by BlueStacks, which can be useful to know if your machine has dual/multiple GPUs. You can also enable the toggle to ensure the dedicated GPU is being used. To learn more, click here.
NOTE:If you're using a Nougat 32-bit or Nougat 64-bit version, you can also configure your Graphics Engine Mode.
Graphics engine mode: Here, you can choose between the two available modes: Compatibility and Performance. While most games will run smoothly on Performance mode, some games that require an advanced graphic architecture will prompt you to switch to Compatibility mode before launch.
3. After making the desired changes, click on "Save changes".
4. Click on "Restart now" for these changes to take effect.
BlueStacks will restart with the saved graphics settings.
