The steps on how to use the OBS Virtual Camera can vary depending on your OBS version. To get started, click on the relevant links below if you're on OBS version:
How can I do this if I'm on OBS version 30.2.3?
NOTE: These steps have been tested and verified on OBS Studio version 30.2.3, the latest available at the time of writing. If you experience issues with newer versions, we recommend reverting to version 30.2.3.
To do this, you need to make a few changes to both BlueStacks Settings and OBS Studio Settings.

OBS Settings:
1. Download and install OBS Studio on your desktop/laptop.
2. Launch OBS Studio, click on the "+" sign within the Sources tab and select "Video Capture Device".
3. Choose your camera source while configuring the Video Capture Device. Once done, click on "OK".
4. Select the sources of your choice from the available options and click on "OK" in the next window. We have taken the example of the "Window Capture" and "Text (GDI+) options, as shown below.
5. Once everything has been set, you can click on the "Start Virtual Camera" button, as shown below.
BlueStacks Settings
1. Now, launch BlueStacks 5 and:
- Click on the gear icon on the Side toolbar to access the Settings menu
- Click on the "Devices" tab
- Select "OBS Virtual Camera" within "Camera"
- Remember to click on "Save changes" to apply the new camera source
NOTE: If you're unable to see the OBS Virtual Camera, you can try restarting BlueStacks 5.
You will now be able to use the OBS Virtual Camera in BlueStacks 5, as shown below.
How can I do this if I'm on OBS version 27.2.4?
You can use OBS Virtual Camera on BlueStacks 5 by installing the OBS Virtual Cam 2.0.5 plugin and applying the settings given below:
OBS Virtual Camera Settings:
1. Once you have downloaded and installed OBS Studio version 27.2.4 on your desktop/laptop, download the plugin required for OBS Virtual Cam 2.0.5 from here.
2. Once it is downloaded, click on the installer file and complete the necessary steps to install the plugin.
3. Launch OBS Studio and select the "Tools" option in the top bar.
4. Then click on "VirtualCam" and do the following:
- Select "Autostart" and "Horizontal Flip"
- Click on "Start" to save the setting
- Click on the "X" icon to close the pop-up
5. Navigate to "Sources" and click on the "+" icon, as shown below.
6. Select the sources of your choice from the available options and click on "OK" in the next window. We have taken the example of the "Window Capture" and "Text (GDI+) options, as shown below.
7. You can also adjust the size and position of the selected sources, as shown below.
BlueStacks Settings:
1. Launch BlueStacks 5 and click on the gear icon on the home screen to access the "Settings" menu.
2. Navigate to the "Devices" tab and select "OBS-Camera" under the "Camera" option.
NOTE: Do not select "OBS Virtual Camera" as only "OBS-Camera" option is compatible with the OBS Virtual Cam 2.0.5 plugin.
3. Then click on "Save changes" for the settings to be applied.
Now, simply launch a camera app such as Instagram, Snapchat or Zoom and stream your selected sources to BlueStacks through OBS Virtual Camera.
