How can I allocate more CPU cores and memory from BlueStacks Settings?
1. Launch BlueStacks 5 and open the Settings menu by clicking on the gear icon on the Side toolbar.
2. Under the Performance tab, assign a higher number of CPU cores and memory to BlueStacks. If you wish to allocate more than 1 Core to BlueStacks 5, please ensure that virtualization is enabled. To learn more, refer to this article.
NOTE: The amount of memory and number of CPU cores you should allocate is dependent on the type of app you are using.
- 4 Cores and 4 GB of memory: For apps that demand high graphics such as Free Fire
- 2 Cores and 2 GB of memory: For apps that are not graphically demanding such as Among Us
On the latest version of BlueStacks, you can assign upto 12 GB of memory to BlueStacks 5, provided your desktop/laptop has sufficient memory available.
If you select the "Custom" option, you can select the exact number of CPU cores and memory you wish to allocate to BlueStacks 5, as shown below.
NOTE: Please do not allocate all of your CPU cores to BlueStacks 5.
3. After allocating the desired number of CPU cores and memory, click "Save changes".
4. You will be asked to restart BlueStacks 5 to apply the changes. Click on "Restart now" to proceed.
How can I assign more CPU cores and memory from the Multi-instance Manager?
If you are not able to access BlueStacks Settings or come across an error pop-up while launching BlueStacks, you can assign CPU cores and memory from the Multi-instance Manager by following the steps given below.
- Launch "Multi-instance Manager" by clicking on its icon on your desktop
- Click on the gear icon next to the instance of your choice to access its settings
- Allocate a higher number of CPU cores and more memory
- Click on "Save changes" and launch the instance by clicking on "Start"
