How to free up disk space using Disk cleanup on BlueStacks 5

How will this help?

You can free up disk space on your desktop/laptop by using the Disk cleanup tool on BlueStacks 5.

Sometimes certain Android apps still take up space on your system even after they have been uninstalled. The Disk cleanup tool frees up disk space by removing such app files from your desktop/laptop.

You can use the Disk cleanup tool in the following ways:

NOTE: If you are using an older version of BlueStacks 5, click here to learn how to free up your disk space.

How can I run Disk cleanup from the BlueStacks 5 settings menu?

1. On your BlueStacks 5 home screen, click on the gear icon to access the "Settings" menu. Navigate to the "User data" tab and click on "Free up space" under the "Disk cleanup" section.

2. You will then be asked for confirmation. Click on "Continue" to proceed.

NOTE: All running instances will be closed when disk cleanup is in progress and you will not be able to launch BlueStacks 5 until it is complete.

3. The BlueStacks 5 window will now close and the disk cleanup process will begin. This may take a few minutes to complete. You can view the progress on your screen, as shown below.

Once the disk cleanup is complete, the running instance from where the disk cleanup was initiated will launch automatically. 


How can I run Disk cleanup from the Multi-instance Manager?

1. Launch the Multi-instance Manager by clicking on its icon in the side toolbar. Click on the Disk cleanup icon and then click on "Continue" to proceed.

NOTE: All running instances will be closed when disk cleanup is in progress and you will not be able to launch BlueStacks 5 until it is complete.

2. The BlueStacks 5 window and the Multi-instance Manager will now close. The disk cleanup process will begin and may take a few minutes to complete. You can view the progress on your screen, as shown below.

3. Once disk cleanup is complete, you will see a confirmation message on your screen. Click on "OK", as shown below.

You can now launch BlueStacks 5 to continue playing your favorite Android games!


How can I free up disk space if I'm using an older version of BlueStacks 5?

If you are using an older version of BlueStacks 5, you can manually download and run the BlueStacks disk cleanup tool to free up disk space on your desktop/laptop.

1. Download the disk cleanup tool using the links below based on the version of your Windows.

2. After it is downloaded, click on the tool to start the disk cleanup process.

NOTE: All running instances of BlueStacks will be closed when disk cleanup is in progress and you will not be able to launch BlueStacks 5 until it is complete.

3. All active instances of BlueStacks 5 will now close. The disk cleanup process will begin and may take a few minutes to complete. You can view the progress on your screen, as shown below. Once it is complete, you will see a confirmation message on your screen. Click on "OK", as shown below.

You can now launch BlueStacks 5 to continue playing your favorite Android games!
