Understand your role as Chieftain and the main interface

Pop Epoch begins with a short story sequence introducing characters such as Asi and The Creator. After the introduction, you arrive on the Ice Age world map, which acts as your main base of operations.

The top of the screen tracks your civilization level, population, acreage, and diamond balance. The bottom navigation bar opens the main systems: Camp, Tech, Hero, Campaign, Guild, and Territory.

Learn what each section does early. You will move between these systems constantly as your settlement grows.

Gather Food, Wood, and Stone

Food, Wood, and Stone form the core resource system.

Food supports your population and hunting activities.

Wood is used for construction and much of the early research.

Stone becomes increasingly important after Quarrying is unlocked and you enter the Stone Age.

During the Ice Age, collect Food and Wood from resource nodes such as berry bushes and dead branches on the world map.

Keep checking available nodes after the tutorial ends. When resources run low, your tribe members show speech bubbles that remind you to gather more.

Research technologies to unlock new buildings

The Technology screen drives your civilization's progression. Technologies are organized by historical era and generally follow a sequence. During the Ice Age, the available technologies include:

Research costs Food or Wood, takes time to complete, and increases your CIV score. Don't leave the Tech screen idle when you can afford the next research, because it unlocks the buildings and systems you need to progress.

Hunt the Mammoth for large Food rewards

Researching Hunting unlocks large animal hunts. During the Ice Age, the Mammoth is the primary hunting target. Your population contributes to the damage dealt, so a larger tribe completes hunts more effectively.

Mammoth hunts give a large Food reward compared with collecting individual resource nodes. Hunts run on cooldowns, so check the timer and start another hunt when available. Later eras bring additional and stronger hunting targets.

Build and upgrade your settlement

Construction follows a simple loop: research the required technology, gather the required resources, then construct the building.

The Tent is the first structure you build. Upgrade it by meeting the required Civilization Level and spending Food. Upgrades increase its Prosperity contribution and population capacity.

After entering the Stone Age, production buildings such as the Lumber Mill, Farm, and Quarry become available. They generate resources over time and reduce your reliance on manual collection.

Prioritize the production buildings that support your current resource needs. Upgrading them improves their output rate and storage capacity.

Grow your population through Migration

Population is required for era progression and also improves your civilization's overall strength.

Residential buildings such as the Tent provide a Migration option. Spend Food to bring new residents into your settlement and increase your population.

Population also affects Hunting damage, so a larger tribe earns Food more efficiently during hunts. When you have a Food surplus, use it to grow your population rather than leaving residential capacity empty.

Build Wonders for permanent bonuses

Wonders become available when you reach the Stone Age. Stonehenge is the first Stone Age Wonder covered in this guide. Completing it can provide Visitors, Lumber Mill Productivity, and Wonder Gold bonuses.

Build Wonders by contributing Stone to a shared construction meter. Milestone rewards are available at 20%, 50%, and 70% completion, so you earn rewards before the Wonder is fully complete.

The Wonder system also includes historical anecdotes and short fiction connected to each monument.

Use Wonder milestones as a practical checklist for Stone Age development. They point you toward the buildings and Civilization Level requirements to work on next.

Recruit heroes and build your formation

Heroes are historical and mythological figures who can join your civilization. Prometheus is the first hero introduced through the main story. He becomes available as an SR hero and can be placed into your Formation.

Other characters in the Hero roster include Augustus, William Shakespeare, Tutankhamun, Richard I, and Da Vinci.

The Formation screen contains combat slots arranged in a grid. Some slots unlock as your Chieftain reaches higher levels.

Your formation's combined ATK, HP, and CMD affect your army's performance in Campaign battles. Fill open slots with available heroes, especially because Campaign progress counts toward era promotion.

Advance to the next era

Era promotion is the main long-term progression system. The Promotion screen tracks five requirements:

Each completed condition gives a claimable reward. Once the required conditions are met, the Promote option becomes available.

When advancing from the Ice Age to the Early Stone Age, the Level Cap increases from 4 to 7, Daily Diamond income increases from 10 to 15, and Hero ATK and HP receive a percentage bonus.

Don't focus entirely on one requirement. A shortage of Land or Population can delay promotion just as easily as unfinished research.
